Construction output grew by 8.3% in August

In August 2020, Ukrainian companies increased the construction output by 8.3% against August last year. The construction output grew by 3.6% compared to the previous month, according to the State Statistics Service.

In January–August 2020, the construction output in monetary terms amounted to ₴97.8 billion, 2.8% down from the same period of 2019.

According to unadjusted data, the residential construction output dropped by 20.7%, non-residential construction output by 1.9%. Conversely, the engineering construction output grew by 3.9%.

The share of new construction in the total construction output was 39.8%, repair 33.2%, reconstruction and technical re-equipment 27%.

In January–August 2020, a growth in the construction output against the same period of 2019 was recorded in:

  • Donetsk oblast — ₴4.2 billion (+24.4%);
  • Kyiv oblast — ₴6.8 billion (+22.2%);
  • Odesa oblast — ₴11.4 billion (+20.1%);
  • Sumy oblast — ₴863 thousand (+2.1%);
  • Khmelnytskyi oblast — ₴2,7 billion (+24.1%);
  • Cherkasy oblast — ₴1.1 billion (+4.2%);
  • Chernivtsi oblast — ₴1.1 billion (+8.8%);
  • Chernihiv oblast — ₴1.4 million (+31.1%).

Other oblasts reported a decline in the construction output. In Kyiv, it fell by 6.7% to ₴22.4 billion.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2019, Ukraine’s construction products index increased by 20% against 2018. The highest trends in the segment were recorded in non-residential and engineering construction, an increase of 27.4% and 23.3% respectively. The residential construction index was up by just 3%.
